I enjoy going to car boot sales a lot. They’re enjoyable, let me sell things I don’t need anymore, and are a good way to spend time with family. In this article, I visited 20 of the top car boot sales in Ireland. I shared plenty of information so you can have fun at them too.

Kilkenny Sunday Market

The Kilkenny Sunday Market is the biggest and oldest car boot sale in Ireland.

Facilities: There are lots of places to park your car.

A large Indoor venue featuring a Café and restrooms with accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

Indoor Sale in Co. Clare

Opening time: Every Sunday, from: 7.30am to 2.00pm, (gates open 7.30am)

Location: Tuamgraney, (opposite St.Joseph’s Church) Scarriff, Co.Clare V94 PW40

Fees: Sellers: Cars cost €10, vans cost €20 – no need to book ahead.

Public: Adults pay €1.50, and kids come in free when with adults.

Kilcully Scout Camp Car Boot Sale

Next Sale: Every Sunday

Opening Time: Traders can expect the gates to open around 8.30am. Customers typically start arriving from 9.00am onwards.

Location: Kilcully Scout Campsite, Cork City, (northern outskirts)

Directions: To find the Grotto in Blackpool, head right, up Dublin Hill until you reach the Y junction by “The Black Man” pub. Take the left fork, then at the bottom of the hill, turn left at the sign for the Cemetery (on the right side of the road). Follow this road and park in the designated parking area next to the graveyard. The Campsite is located across the road. Traders, kindly queue at the designated gate to enter the site.

Fees: Traders pay €10 (Additional charges may apply in specific instances).

Customers are charged €2 per adult, while children enter for free!

Ballydehob Car Boot Sale

(Both indoor and outdoor spaces are available, with the hall accessible for indoor stall holders.)

Next Sale: Every Sunday

Opening Time: From: 8.00am – 3.00pm (Sellers set up from 8.30 am.)

Location: The Community Hall, Ballydehob, West Cork

Fees: Sellers: €10 per Car or Van.

Belgooly GAA Car Boot Sale

Next Sale: 1st Sunday of the month

Opening Time: From: 8.00am – 2.00pm (Gates open at 7.30am for traders – NO bookings required)

Location: GAA Grounds, Belgooly, Co.Cork

Fees: Sellers: Cars €10.

Public : € 2 and Children FREE

Facilities: Toilets provided

Direction: If you’re traveling from Cork, make your way towards Kinsale. Pass through Riverstick and keep going until you reach Belgooly. Then, turn right at the pubs towards the GAA pitch. Look out for signs to guide you along the way.

Blarney GAA Club Car Boot Sale

Opening Time: The club grounds open at 6.00am for sellers and the public from 7.00am

Location: Castle Close Road, Blarney, Co.Cork  

Fees: Cars: €15, with trailers: €20.

Small vans: €20, with trailers: €25.

Large vans: €30.

Public admission: €3.

Free entry for club members.

Facilities: Refreshment & toilet facilities are available.

Castletownroche Car Boot Sale

Next Sale: Every Monday, but it’s advisable to check before you go.

Location: Located in Castletownroche, Co. Cork, along the N72 Mallow/Fermoy road.

Fees: Sellers: €8 car and €15 van

Public admission: Adults €2 and children free.

Facilities: Experience a welcoming atmosphere with abundant parking spaces and trading pitches available both indoors and outdoors. The indoor area provides an ideal setting for all weather conditions, offering plenty to explore with refreshments served throughout the day. Rest assured, refreshments and restroom facilities are conveniently located on-site.

Direction:From Limerick, take a left turn off the N20 towards Doneraile, approximately 5 miles on the Cork side of Charleville. Continue through Doneraile, then take a left at the top of the village and follow signs for Castletownroche.

From Kerry, Mallow, or Fermoy, simply follow the N72 to Castletownroche.

Car Boot Sale in Rathcormac

Next Sale: Sunday, 21 April 2024

Opening Time:  Traders usually start lining up from 7:00 am, but coming by anytime before 8:30 am is also okay.

Location: The Community Field, Rathcormac, Co.Cork

Fees: Sellers: Cars €10, Vans €15, Large Vans €20. Buyers: €2 entry fee.

Direction: The car boot sale happens in the ‘new’ Community Field, with signs directing from the village.

More Information: The sale will follow the Government and HSE Covid-19 rules, with helpers around for any questions.

It’s best to come early, especially on sunny days. Being early lets you pick a good spot. You’ll need to bring your own display stand—some use tables, others just spread out a sheet on the grass.

Co. Dublin – Northside

Next Sale: Every Sunday

Opening Time: Open from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Traders typically start gathering as early as 6:00am.

Location: Balbriggan Car Boot Sale, Balbriggan, Co.Dublin

Fees: For sellers, cars and vans are €20 each. Buyers pay a €2 fee for parking.

Direction:  If you’re coming from Dublin on the M1, you’ll encounter two exits for Balbriggan. The first exit is signposted as Balbriggan/Walshestown, while the second exit is signposted Balbriggan/Naul. Take the second exit. Once you reach the top of the slip road, turn right and cross over the motorway bridge. Proceed through the next small roundabout on the other side of the bridge. Take the next right, and you’ll find the market entrance just a few yards further ahead on the right-hand side. It’s about 200 yards down from the roundabout.
